ITG History

The Integrated Technology Group of companies is able to provide a wide array of engineering and manufacturing services centered on magnetics to meet the needs of a diversified customer base. We call this our Total Magnetic Solutions® approach.

Today, ITG is well positioned as a global manufacturer, with strong design and engineering capabilities, a core competence in magnetics, and a technology roadmap that focuses increasingly on sub-systems and systems.

Timeline

Some of the defining moments in our company's history are noted below.

1955
Magnet Sales established as a distributor of standard magnets.

1970s
Magnet Sales grows to become a well recognized name in the magnet distribution industry, becoming the larges distributor of flexible magnet materials in the USA.

1981
Magnet Sales shifts focus to custom magnet solutions. Name changed to Magnet Sales & Manufacturing to reflect new direction.

1984
Relocated to new facility in Culver City.

1990
3-D and 2-D Finite Element Analysis tools and FEA modeling implemented.

 

 


1991

CNC machining capability established.

1993
Delivered complete magnetic bearing assembly for NASA high-speed turbo pump used in Space Shuttle.

1994
Developed advanced linear beam microwave tube focusing magnet with Lockheed Martin.

1995
Began production of high-speed rotor assemblies for Micro Gas Turbine applications.

1996
Built and tested prototypes of the final bend and focus magnets for SLAC B factory PEPII linear accelerator project.

1998
Established first of its kind U.S. high volume production plant for high-speed rotors.

Registered to ISO 9002 Quality System standard.

2000
Class 1000 clean room capability established for ultra-clean requirements

Metal deposition magnet assemblies for semiconductor applications built in production volumes.

Established alliances in China for low-cost production.

All-Permanent-Magnet ECR Ion Source fabricated.

Upgraded Quality System registration to ISO 9001:2000

2001
Company changes name to Integrated Magnetics to accurately reflect new competencies.

Manufactured in production volumes, world's most complex inverse Halbach magnet to be used in a medical surgical application. Final weight of permanent magnet system: 800 lbs.

Built space rated actuator motor rotor designed to step in nanometer increments for the Hubble telescope.

2002
Established joint-venture plant in China, Atlas Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) to serve customers’ facilities in China and to provide cost reduction opportunities through controlled program transition.

2004
Established real-time SPC on plant floor.

2005
Developed capabilities to produce extremely small magnets – in the range of 0.010” outside diameter x 0.003” inside diameter x 0.040” long.

2006
Parent company Integrated Technology Group (ITG) established reflecting the the group's expanding focus on system-level capabilities and focus.

Established a manufacturing plant in Nogales, Mexico (Integrated Magnetics de Mexico), providing a lower cost production capability while maintaining short lead times for US based customers.

2007
Acquired Carlsbad Magnetics (now CMI Integrated Technologies), a designer and manufacturer of custom engineered electrical machines, motors, alternators, tachometers, resolvers and other electromagnetic devices.

Received order to design and build seeker head sub-system for ARGM.
